The National Defence Promotion Foundation Supports the Establishment of a New Field Hospital in Ukraine
On November 11, the National Defence Promotion Foundation handed over medical equipment and various supplies worth 273,207.49 euros in Chernihiv, Ukraine. This critical equipment is essential for setting up a field hospital attached to a new brigade of the Ukrainian National Guard.
Mait Palts, the Director of the National Defence Promotion Foundation, noted that the foundation has been delivering medical supplies to Ukraine since the start of the war and has also supported the treatment of wounded Ukrainian fighters in Estonia. "Our Ukrainian partners shared their plans to create a new brigade and the associated field hospital at the beginning of summer. Given Russia's ongoing destruction of critical infrastructure, including civilian hospitals, we recognized the urgent need and were able to source and assemble the required equipment from Estonia," said Palts. He also expressed gratitude to all the donors, whose targeted contributions will enable the field hospital to begin operations soon.
Equipment Provided
The delivered supplies, worth 273,207.49 euros, included defibrillators, patient monitors, portable ventilators, infusion pumps, blood and fluid warmers, various portable analyzers, ultrasound machines, aspirators, blood pressure monitors, autoclaves for sterilizing instruments, and a range of auxiliary equipment and consumables for patient care. Additionally, larger battery stations were supplied to ensure a stable power supply.
Ceremony and Acknowledgments
On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, a formal handover ceremony took place at the Estonian Embassy in Kyiv. During the event, representatives from both countries signed the transfer documents and expressed their gratitude to all involved. Attendees included ambassadors from Estonia and Ukraine, representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, members of the Ukrainian and Estonian Chambers of Commerce, and Estonia’s Minister of Defence, Hanno Pevkur, who is also a member of the foundation’s supervisory board.
The van used for transporting the supplies was provided by Veho, and Kohila Vineer OÜ made a significant contribution to the procurement of the field hospital equipment.
