Opening of the Business Season in Ämari
On 27 August, the Business Season 2022/2023 was opened together with entrepreneurs and cooperation partners. This year, the event took place at the Ämari air base and was already the 25th event of its kind. Traditionally, the opening speech was held by Toomas Luman, who, in relation to the beginning of the school year, highlighted the bottlenecks of education that have an influence on our national security. During the day, there were several enjoyable activities from our cooperation partners: for example, guests could get acquainted with the equipment of the Defence Forces and airbase, and try on the military gear. The host of the day, Taavi Puuorg introduced the exiting speeches – a welcome speech from the commander of the Estonian Air Force, Colonel Toomas Susi, a presentation by Raul Rebane and presentation of the Estonian Export Directory by Mait Palts. There was a charity auction for Ukraine where five paintings by Hannes Võrno were auctioned. The auctioned paintings were made in 2022, inspired by the war in Ukraine. “In order to depict war in art, one does not need to paint the horrors of war. I rather recommend depicting the feelings that the war evokes. The paintings donated for the auction were chosen based on that,” said Võrno.
Traditionally, there was business card lottery where many prizes were raffled, one lucky person was taken to a helicopter ride in the sky above the airbase and surrounding areas, and the main prize was a family travel package to Paris presented by Estravel and Finnair. The main performer on the stage was Traffic who heated the sunny day up even more.
Many thanks to all the guests and everyone involved. We wish you a successful new business season!
