simFactory – an Industry 4.0 solution for data-driven electronics manufacturing

simFactory is a hybrid data solution for the electronics industry, created by Estonian design and product development company Proekspert. The implementation of simFactory supports Industry 4.0-minded manufacturers by making manufacturing processes easier to monitor and more transparent and facilitating better business decisions.

The solution takes advantage of data analysis to use production-related resources (equipment, people) as efficiently as possible, improve product quality, and reduce production costs.

Proekspert Business Development expert Tähve Lõpp explains simFactory in terms of impact and interest in the market: "simFactory helps to collect, analyze, and visualize data to optimize production costs in electronics manufacturing. The uniqueness of the solution lies in the new way it presents analytics from observing the manufacturing process and the variety of functions it performs in the factory. Our focus is on data fusion and monitoring, multivariate outlier detection, process mining, advanced analytics, modeling and machine-learning technologies. We have been developing the solution in collaboration with electronics manufacturing companies, Oshino and Enics among others. Implementation results have been surprisingly good; for example, at Oshino, the operator interface solution increased the engagement of shop-floor operators by approximately 100%. We are currently starting operations on the German market and the interest in simFactory has been considerable.“
