EU-Angola Business Forum of 24 March 2022
The first EU-Angola Business Forum will be held in Brussels and online on the 24th March 2022. It will kick-off a series of public-private dialogues around Angola´s economic reform agenda to support private sector investment in the country.
The objective of this event is to foster European investment in Angola by highlighting its economic opportunities and potential. The EU-Angola Business Forum aims to promote Angola as an investment destination beyond oil and gas. It will focus on green and digital investments as catalyst to boost trade, create decent jobs and promote sustainable and diversified growth. This is in line with Europe’s Global Gateway strategy, the new European Strategy to boost smart, clean and secure links in digital, energy and transport and strengthen health, education and research systems across the world.
The event is organised in a Team Europe approach and in collaboration with the EU Member States representations and business organisations. From the Angolan side, officials from both the key government agencies and the Business Support Organisations such as AIPEX are on-board. A special role will be given to financing institutions that can help investors in Angola and Europe. Finally, and above all, business firms already established in Angola and potential investors are at the core of all activities in this Business Forum. This event should be seen as a continuation of the 7th EU-Africa Business Forum ( EABF ) which took place last February 14-18.
The agenda includes thematic panels in agriculture, energy, and digitalisation as well as crosscutting issues such as trade & investment negotiations and access to finance. Specific attention will be given to financial institutions in order for them to explain their guarantees and financial packages to investors. Furthermore, it will give the opportunity to business, investors, associations, and government & EU officials to meet physically and via virtual platforms on B2B and B2G matchmaking sessions throughout the day.
A physical event in Brussels will be complemented by an online platform allowing for a wider participation and interaction (i.e., B2B/B2G direct interactions and online meetings). For the moment, more than 500 people, mainly European companies, registered for the event.
