INVITATION to roundtable to discuss the new AI regulation whitepaper by the EU Commission - what are the effects for and expectations of the Estonian tech-industry
The Digital Future for Europe Coalition and Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry are delighted to invite You to discuss the new AI regulation whitepaper by the EU Commission - what are the effects for and expectations of the Estonian tech-industry
The EU is about to introduce far-reaching AI regulations, which will have a huge impact on the Estonia tech industry. The Digital Future for Europe coalition wants to respond and make as many startups heard as possible.
At this roundtable on 13th March, we want to discuss the effects of tech regulation on Estonia startups and the Estonian tech ecosystem, and find out what sort of policies Estonian startups really want to see implemented. You are invited to help develop positive and practical ideas which will encourage growth and innovation in Estonia.
During the 3-hour discussion we will examine:
- The ambitions and consequences of the EU white paper on AI regulation
- Compare Estonian policy to other European nations to look at best practice;
- Define the policy needs of Estonian startups.
The Digital Future for Europe Coalition and Chamber of Commerce invite all tech-industry players, associations, think tanks, start-ups, scale-ups, and local Estonian policy makers to discuss the future of AI regulation. This will be an open discussion between startups and policymakers. The public sector must understand the views of startups so it can best support SMEs and innovation both at an Estonian level and at the EU.
We would like to discuss:
- what works well in tech in Estonia and what doesn’t;
- Estonia as a leader in the Baltic/Nordic region;
- how can Estonia set an example to Europe;
- the threats posed by European AI regulations;
- how should Europe go forward with AI.
The roundtable will conclude with a summary of the Estonian tech sector’s views of AI regulation at the national and EU level. Following the workshop, a clear set of practical recommendations will be produced, which will tie into what we have learnt from other workshops around Europe, to identify what is distinct about different countries’ startup ecosystems and what unites them. We hope that all attendees will be able to use these recommendations in their own discussions with government.
The event:
- takes place at Estonian Chamber of Commerce;
- at 13th of March, from 9:30 to 13:00;
- language spoken is English;
- seating is limited and registration required
