Liviko – spirited success in innovation, exports and competitions
Liviko’s best-known brands are the internationally awarded Crafter’s London Dry, the colour-changing Crafter’s Aromatic Flower and the Estonian hallmark product, Vana Tallinn liqueur.
Alongside the legendary Vana Tallinn, Crafter’s success comes from Liviko’s innovative approach, Nordic quality, environment-friendly philosophy and awards from reputable international competitions. Among exported products, the focus is on Crafter’s London Dry and Crafter’s Aromatic Flower gins, which have reached almost 60 markets around the world. The legendary Vana Tallinn liqueur is still popular and it is sold in 40 countries. Liviko has developed a unique production solution – the juniper berries used to make gin are then re-crafted into either a soft drink or juniper beer following the zero waste principle. The remaining berries are used again to make Crafter’s Juniper cheese.
Liviko’s export team will again present Crafter’s gins next week, from 15 to 17 May, at the ProWein fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, where the novel Crafter’s Wild Forest, a crisp Nordic gin, will have its world premiere! Crafter’s exhibition booth is located in Hall 11, booth H89.
Crafter’s returns from San Francisco with double gold and silver medals
The gin category is one of the most demanding in the world, which is why Liviko’s team is so pleased that their gins gain high recognition again and again. The most recent recognition came from the prestigious SFWSC competition in San Francisco, where Crafter’s London Dry Gin was awarded a double gold medal. Crafter’s Aromatic Flower Gin also won a silver medal at the same competition.
Over the years, Crafter’s gins have won more than twenty awards at competitions, highlighting its pure and distinctive Nordic taste, and the high quality and outstanding design of the gins. These components play a key role in the success of Crafter’s gins and have led to the successful presentation of both the classic Crafter’s London Dry and the colour-changing Crafter’s Aromatic Flower in 60 countries around the world.
Award-winning Vana Tallinn Toffee Caramel in ten markets in just a year
Vana Tallinn is Liviko’s pride and honour. The hallmark Estonian product is an elegant classic that is always fresh and modern. The excellent liqueur has for decades offered endless inspiration and trend-conscious possibilities for mixing new flavours. Vana Tallinn Toffee Caramel, which was elected the best alcoholic beverage at the Best Estonian Food competition, is a perfect example of how well the powerful Jamaican rum and aromatic spices go with the toffee caramel flavour palette.
Beverage experts recommend Vana Tallinn Toffee Caramel liqueur to be served on the rocks in a tumbler or used in cocktails. The caramel liqueur, which went into production just a year ago, is already available in ten countries and in the travel trade.
Zero waste – innovation and inspiration in using production residues
Liviko was the first in the world to develop a new solution – it follows the zero waste principle when making new products from gin production residues. We make the most of our valuable raw materials – after being used once, the raw material is then used to produce Recrafted Crafter’s zero waste beverages and cheese. Carefully selected juniper berries are first used to make the internationally awarded Crafter’s gins. The beverage masters then use the remaining extract of the distillation to make another drink, either the Re-crafted Crafter’s Junibeer, a non-alcoholic zero waste craft beverage, or juniper beer (3.2% vol). The processed juniper berries are then finally used in Crafter’s Juniper cheese, which is made by Liviko’s good partner, the Andre cheese farm in Estonia.
When laboratory tests revealed that the juniper berries remaining after gin distillation contain so many valuable minerals and a quarter of the berries is fibre, Liviko suggested that Andre use the berries in cheese. Crafter’s Juniper cheese was recognised at the Best Estonian Food competition as the “best product from a small company in South Estonia in 2022”. The flavoursome distillation residue is used in Crafter’s Juniper cheese to give the cheese a delicious taste. This is how Liviko took the reuse of production residue in the food industry to a whole new level.
