OTO Meedia OÜ and chamber of commerce plan exciting and direct sales meetings between small and large Norwegian and Estonian companies in 2020
Trade between companies in Estonia and in Norway is nothing new, but there is great potential for even more companies in Estonia to sell their products and services to strong companies and consumers in Norway. In Norway, competition is fierce as in all other countries and the need to increase profits and offer unique quality products is definitely right. Often, only the big companies have enough resources to sell their products out of Estonia. The same applies to companies in Norway. The big companies have been importing goods from abroad for centuries. OTO Meedia and ECCI want now to facilitate very specific sales meetings between small and large companies in Estonia and Norway.
OTO Meedia OÜ is owned by the Norwegian company One To One AS in Norway. One To One has traded with the Baltic countries and many different companies in Estonia for a number of years. Managing Director of OTO Meedia OÜ, Arne Lie owns 3 companies in Norway, 1 company in Denmark and 1 company in Estonia. With almost 15 years of experience from trading activities between the Baltic and Norway, Arne Lie will now create a meeting forum so that even more companies in Estonia can access the Norwegian market. He also wants even more Norwegian companies to realize the great potential of starting their own imports of products and services from Estonian companies.
- In cooperation with the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry(ECCI) , we want to establish a meeting forum where we bring serious Norwegian companies to Estonia. Through meetings and social events, we hope that the companies will become better acquainted with each other and that this will develop into clear business agreements, says Arne Lie.
Arne Lie is very pleased that ECCI has agreed to be an important partner in this project. We have signed an agreement that states that ECCI and Tallinn will be the place where all the meetings will be held and ECCI will inform and invite all its member companies to these meeting forums. There is a lot of work left and we, in collaboration with Piret Potisepp and Marju Männik at ECCI, plan all the various meeting forums that we want to hold down to the smallest detail in 2020. All ECCI members will be constantly updated in the coming months. To make these meeting forums as effective and fruitful as possible, we will divide them into different industries.
Initially, it is about inviting companies in building and construction, IT and programming, media and printing and some other relevant industries. The industries mentioned here are large and include a wide range of companies in Estonia. Lie has many years of experience in purchasing graphic services and product development of health-related products in Estonia and is very pleased with both the cooperation and the result. He therefore believes that there are many other Norwegian clients who may benefit from such cross-border cooperation also in other industries from which he has experience.
Meeting forum gives you easy access to the Norwegian market
For companies in Estonia, such an arrangement means that you will be able to quickly and efficiently introduce yourself to potential specific Norwegian companies that can become your future customers. For those of you who have not yet stepped into the export market or who may have tried but have not succeeded, our meeting forum will be spot on. Here you will get the help and support you need to take the step fully. It is becoming apparent that it is not just taking a phone or sending an email to foreign companies and thus the sale is underway. It takes a lot of hard and time-consuming work to succeed. OTO Meedia and ECCI want to help you with this through our meeting forum.
Now it should be said that there is also a natural skepticism among Norwegian business leaders to buy products and services directly from abroad and thereby skip the distribution stage in Norway. There is a lot of prejudice and a lot of lack of knowledge about this, especially in small and medium-sized businesses. But through such a forum, we will be able to create security and provide knowledge about this type of business. By inviting Norwegian companies to Tallinn, we want to increase their knowledge of the Estonian market. At the same time, you get the opportunity in Estonia to showcase your products and services to potential customers in a natural and direct way and get to know each other one by one, says Lie.
What is required of those who want to join these meeting forums? We will make some demands on the companies both in Estonia and in Norway who want to join. They have to make themselves attractive to each other by having good websites, good presentation material and good product brochures in English.
Effective and scheduled meetings
Meeting forum is scheduled to last for 2 days. On the first day, it is a bit like speed-dating where the companies conduct their pre-arranged meetings with the agreed companies. There can be from 5 to 15 meetings this day, depending on how many you have wanted to meet. It will be dinner after the end of the day where mingling and socializing are an important part of the meeting forum. Day 2 is reserved for business visits and possibly longer talks and negotiations.
ECCI will offer its services related to these activities. If you want legal advice for the preparation of contracts, questions about transport and customs clearance, tax and VAT rules etc. we are at your disposal around the clock both days.
Further information
You probably have many questions related to these events. OTO Meedia and ECCI will provide more detailed information shortly. We are constantly working to get new websites and a new presentation film about meetingforum that we have chosen to call these events.
