Take part in the ‘Tööle kaasa!’ initiative (‘Bring your child to work’)
We would like to invite all entrepreneurs to take part in an initiative which is taking place between 18-22 February 2019 entitled ‘Tööle kaasa!’, which means that businesses open their doors to the children of their employees (those in forms 1-9) in order to give them the chance to find out what it is their parents do at work and where they do that work. This will be a wonderful opportunity for businesses to introduce their field of interest to potential future employees and to be a responsible and family-friendly business.
Tööle Kaasa! is an initiative of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce, which now invites employers, parents, and schools to join forces and create new opportunities for children to get to know what a working life can be like.
The benefits for students, children, and young people are as follows:
- they will become more aware of what is going on in the world of work
- they will find out what their parents do from day-to-day, what their workday consists of, what their work environment is like, what is the essence of their job, and what is the value of that job
- they will be able to understand why different jobs are necessary and that every worker matters.
The initiative gives employers the opportunity to be able to introduce their field of work to children and young people, to contribute to the next generation, and to be noticed in public as a socially responsible and family-friendly business.
For a parent, this gives them a concrete and practical opportunity to work together with a school through which one can open up different aspects and values of working life and can help children to understand how they can make conscious decisions in regard to what they chose to study and what to bear in mind when choosing a profession.
The schools get the chance to cooperate with parents through this initiative, which will enrich the school’s career studies in a practical way.
The initiative in 2019 is directed at students who are currently learning in forms 1-9, along with parents and their employers. However, upon the initiative of a school or employer, younger or older students may also be involved.
It is possible to join the initiative in two ways: firstly upon the initiative of a business, where the business organises a training day for the children of its employees, in which case the business in question should sign up. The other option is for a school to take the first step. In this case, the whole class will be able to participate. This means getting in touch with the employer through the school and then getting parents and school to sign up.
If your business is interested in joining, you can read more about it here and sign up today: www.ettevotlikkus.ee/toolekaasa.
The partners of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce in this initiative are SA Innove, the Estonian Unemployment Office, and the Ministry of Education and Research.
